Armin van Buuren Unveils His First Acoustic Album, *Piano*

Unveiled during a surprise ADE performance, Piano marks Armin van Buuren’s first-ever acoustic album—described by Armada Music as “the most honest music van Buuren has ever made.”

The 15-track project, composed and performed entirely on piano, strips away the beats to reveal the melodic core that has driven van Buuren’s sound for over two decades. Influenced by his piano-playing father and classical upbringing, the album offers a deeply personal reflection on his roots and relationships, with pieces dedicated to his family.

Born from a period of introspection and a focus on mental well-being, the project evolved from casual piano sketches into full compositions alongside classically trained composer Geronimo Snijtsheuvel. “This project shows another side of me—intimate, honest, direct,” van Buuren shared.

Recorded in early 2025 at Utrecht’s ConcertLab, each piece was captured in a single take, featuring both solo performances and collaborations with a chamber orchestra. Among the highlights is “Fathers & Sons,” the emotional blueprint of the album, and a reimagined piano version of Robert Miles’ classic “Children.”

Piano will stream exclusively on Apple Music and Apple Music Classical starting October 31, with a wide release across all platforms on November 7. The first single, “Sonic Samba,” is out now.
